Luke 1:76

_(KJV) And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest: for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways;_

The account in today’s memory verse was a prophecy from Zechariah after his son, John the Baptist, was born. For months he had not spoken but regained his ability to speak after writing John’s name just as the prophecy was said when the angel appeared to him.(vrs. 11-20)

John’s mission on earth was clearly defined, which was to prepare the way of the Lord Jesus Christ. Just as John’s assignment was to prepare the way for the first advent of the Messiah, today it is our assignment as the church (born again believers) to sound the message of readiness for Christ’s second coming, for all to hear.

The preaching of His second coming is not the sole responsibility of Pastors only. It is the business of us all.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, I thank you for the privilege given to be a part of the “John the Baptists” of our time proclaiming your soon return.

INSIGHT: John the Baptist prepared the way for Jesus’ first advent. It is our turn to prepare the hearts of men for his second coming
